A new Era for Women Angels in York and North Yorkshire
The University of York and Lifted Angel Academy Angel Education Programme is designed to inspire and equip women with the skills and knowledge to become confident angel investors.
A unique opportunity to join a group of women keen to take their next steps into angel investing, and support female founders from York and North Yorkshire has just been announced.
University of York in partnership with Lifted Ventures is launching this new initiative designed to equip 15 women with the knowledge, confidence and networks needed to begin investing in high potential businesses across the region.
Delivered by Lifted’s signature ‘Lifted Angel Academy’ this course will run over ten weeks with a launch and finale event in person, the rest will be delivered virtually. Participants are encouraged from all backgrounds.
Why this matters.
Research by the University of York and the Federation of Small Businesses shows that investing in female entrepreneurs could add £2.6 billion to the local economy and create 165,000 jobs.
By becoming an angel investor, you’re not only building your own investment portfolio you’re actively contributing to the economic growth, innovation and a more equitable future.
About the Programme
Delivered through Lifted’s flagship Lifted Angel Academy, this 10-week programme is designed to equip 15 women with the knowledge, confidence and networks needed to start investing in high potential regional businesses.
It includes:
- A structured series of weekly workshops (mostly virtual)
- An in-person launch session to connect with the cohort
- A finale celebration with live pitches from female founders
- Access to real investment opportunities and Lifted Ventures pitch events
- Learning from experienced investors, legal and financial experts
- A clear A-Z understanding of angel investing
- Practical skills in due diligence, financials and valuations
- Insight in to tax-efficient investing (EIS/SEIS)
- Confidence to assess and make investment decisions
- A powerful network of like-minded women and industry leaders
Who’s this for?
This programme is open to women from all backgrounds whether you’re completely new to angel investing or have already made a few investments and want to deepen your understanding. You do not need to be based in York or North Yorkshire to apply, but should have a genuine interest in supporting businesses in the region.
Whether you’re already dabbling in angel investing or a complete beginner, this Angel Education Programme is a great way to make smarter, more confident investment decisions and bust those myths around angel investing once and for all.
Lifted have created acclaimed education content which takes would-be angels through each element, step by step and connects them to peers who are already actively angel investing, creating a 360 degree learning process.

- £100 commitment required to secure your place
