BindEthics, an innovative company dedicated to the development and commercialisation of sustainable adhesives for engineered wood products, has secured investment for their groundbreaking non-toxic adhesive made from industrial food waste with support from Lifted Ventures.
Traditional adhesives are a significant environmental burden: they release toxic substances, prevent the recycling and safe incineration of engineered wood, and ultimately contribute to large amounts of construction waste in landfills. BindEthics’ unique adhesive formula is an effective and sustainable alternative; environmentally friendly, fully recyclable, and enabling circular product lifecycles, reducing the environmental footprint of adhesives by 85%.
Over two funding rounds, facilitated by Lifted Ventures, BindEthics has secured angel investments, creating gateway access to an Innovate UK grant, equalling a total investment of £413k in the company. This has seen them move into a new phase of product testing and commercialisation.
Lifted Ventures was co-founded by Jordan Dargue and Helen Oldham. Since launching Lifted Ventures in September 2023, the pair have helped to leverage over £4.2m of investment into female founders.
Victoria Garcia, CEO of BindEthics, expressed her enthusiasm:
“We are thrilled to drive forward with our vision, transforming the engineered wood products industry with adhesives that are not only sustainable but support full lifecycle circularity. This latest funding, alongside the invaluable guidance from Lifted Ventures, allows us to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly materials across the construction sector. Our adhesive technology is a crucial step towards a healthier planet and aligns perfectly with industry’s movement toward Net Zero.”
Helen Oldham, Co-Founder of Lifted Ventures, added:
“We are delighted to have supported Victoria through this critical phase of product development and are eager to see what lies ahead for BindEthics. With Lifted Ventures’ support, Victoria secured a substantial Innovate UK grant, positioning her business to thrive. It has been especially rewarding to work with a leader in our hometown of Leeds, and we look forward to supporting many more partnerships with Leeds University-backed businesses.”
BindEthics is poised to redefine industry standards and meet the growing demand for sustainable, circular materials in engineered wood. With this new phase of investment and development, the company is set to create a lasting impact on eco-friendly building solutions worldwide.
